Eda Shrine
One of Miyazaki's most powerful spots, where Japan's oldest married deities are enshrined
The phrase "Awakihara in Odo, Tachibana, Hyuga, Chikushi," which you always hear during Shinto rituals, refers to this very place, known as the birthplace of misogi and norito. Enshrining Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto, Japan's oldest sacred deities, it attracts many worshippers who pray for good relationships.
One of the two sacred trees, a large camphor tree located halfway along the approach to the shrine, is said to bring good luck if you touch the bump at its base, and many visitors have touched it and become smooth.
The area around the resort is a treasure trove of stories originating from Hyuga mythology. Together with a "myth storyteller," you will visit power spots such as the Misogi Pond, said to be the birthplace of the myth, and Eda Shrine.
It comes with a charm from Eda Shrine, which enshrines Izanagi-no-Mikoto, the god who created the country.
