What is Nordic walking?

"Nordic walking" was introduced as a simple walking exercise using poles, based on the "ski walk" that cross-country skiers did as a summer training exercise to maintain and strengthen their physical strength.
It consumes more energy than regular walking and also has a slimming effect!
content2The benefits of Nordic walking
| 1 | Heart rate increases by approximately 13% compared to regular walking |
|---|---|
| 2 | Compared to regular walking, energy expenditure increases by an average of 20% (some research shows it can increase by 46%). |
| 3 | By moving the shoulder blades, you can relieve pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders. |
| 4 | Improved lateral flexibility from neck to back |
| 5 | The most active muscles are the biceps, which stretch, the muscles around the shoulder blades, the pectoralis major, and the latissimus dorsi. |
| 6 | Burns approximately 400 kcal per hour (normal walking burns approximately 280 kcal) |
| 7 | On slippery surfaces, the poles act as walking sticks, making it extremely safe. |

Nordic walking tips

- The basic length of Nordic walking poles is approximately your height x 0.68.
Adjust the length of the pole depending on your height and fitness level. - Hold the pole lightly and swing your arms back and forth in a balanced manner.
- Keep your back straight and your eyes fixed on the distance, and as you swing your arms backward, press them firmly down to your waist.
- To extend your arm smoothly, gradually open your palm and finally push off the grip.
- Use the pole movement to keep your upper body moving forward and take slightly longer strides.
- The pole should land in the center of your stride and stride length.
- The heel of the foot strikes the ground, and the toes push naturally against the ground along with the ball of the foot as you kick.
